Most wanted LeT terrorist commander ‘Musa’ killed in Yousmarg forest encounter

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30 (STC): A top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander was killed in a brief encounter between the army and militants in the Yousmarg Maji Pathri forest area of central Budgam district. Security forces also took action in response to the firing and a fierce exchange of fire took place during which one militant was killed. The army confirmed the operation and said that a highly wanted commander affiliated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed in the clash. Identified as Suleman Shah alias Musa, the sources said he was wanted by the security forces for many years and there were reports of his alleged involvement in various attacks on both sides of Pir Panjal. According to officials, he managed to escape during a clash with security forces in the hills of Yousmarg earlier this month. Authorities said that Musa’s close aide Yasir was killed during the clash in the hills of Yousmarg on September 5, while Musa managed to escape from there.
According to security officials, Musa’s death is being described as a major setback for the Lashkar-e-Toiba network operating in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that a search operation is underway by security forces in the area.
