According to the reports, Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has said that after the full implementation of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), there will be a significant change in the criminal justice system in the country and the target of disposing of cases from the registration of FIR to the Supreme Court within three years will be achieved.
Shah stated this whole addressing a state-level conference of cattle breeders in Bhopal. He also inaugurated an exhibition related to the new criminal law. He said that after about a year and a half, when the new criminal laws come into full force, a system will be established to dispose of any case from the registration of an FIR to the Supreme Court within three years.
Amit Shah said that at one time, India’s criminal justice system was known for long pendency of cases, but now the situation has improved. Addressing the youth, he said that after the full implementation of the new law, efforts will be made to make the judicial process more speedy and modern.
The Union Home Minister, while shedding light on the basic philosophy of the new criminal law, said that the laws made during the British era were aimed at protecting their government and rule, while the aim of the new criminal laws is to protect the dignity and rights of citizens. According to him, the basic principle of the new law is “not punishment but justice”, while punishment will be given only where it is needed to prevent crime and discourage criminals.
He claimed that after the full implementation of BNS, India’s criminal justice system will be among the most modern systems in the world. He said that through the new laws, focus is being placed on speeding up the process of delivery of justice, using modern technology and providing justice to citizens in a timely manner.
Criticizing the Congress, Amit Shah said that since independence, people associated with the agricultural system, rural development and cooperation sector have been demanding the establishment of a separate Ministry of Cooperation, however, according to him, this ministry was not established for 75 years. He said that a separate Ministry of Cooperation was established after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power.
Shah said that the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation can benefit cattle breeders the most. He also mentioned the increase in milk production and said that India’s total milk production in 2014-15 was about 147 million tonnes, which according to him has increased to about 250 million tonnes in the last 10 years. He said that steps are also being taken to improve the breed of cows and protect cattle from diseases through modern technology. Amit Shah said that the government is also focusing on increasing milk production as well as improving the economic condition of cattle farmers.
The Union Minister accused the Congress of spreading “negative thinking” in the country and said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has made progress in various sectors. He said that the Prime Minister has pledged to make India a top country in every sector of the world by August 15, 2047. Shah said that the government is working towards providing better facilities and timely justice to the citizens through reforms in the country’s judicial, legal, agricultural and cooperative systems.
