SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 17 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir former Chief Minister and National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah has said Jammu and Kashmir has also been treated like a stepmother. First, without consulting the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the special status was snatched away and this historic state was divided into two and its statehood was also snatched away.

that under the Constitution of India and democratic principles, every citizen, regardless of his religion or class, has the right to freedom of religion, expression of opinion and protection of his legitimate rights. Respecting these rights is the fundamental responsibility of a democratic society, and no region and citizen should be discriminated against on the basis of his religion or belief.
He said that
He stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were promised in the Parliament and the Supreme Court that the statehood would be restored immediately after the elections, but even after two years of the elections, there has been no progress in this direction. “The limit is that the powers that a UT government has, the people’s government of Jammu and Kashmir has been deprived of these powers as well,” he said and added that the LG administration does not miss any opportunity to obstruct and obstruct the work of a democratic government.
Dr. Farooq, expressing concern over the growing communalism and religious inequality in the country, said that making arbitrary decisions by disregarding democratic and constitutional principles and using powers for personal or political interests is against the interests of the country and the nation. Such measures not only harm social harmony but also weaken the unity and solidarity of the country.
He said that India’s secular identity and Constitution have always been a source of recognition and pride of the country around the world, but today these fundamental values are facing serious challenges. Promoting hatred and discriminatory attitudes on religious grounds, creating fear and panic among minorities and violating their constitutional rights is not acceptable under any circumstances.
He said that the policies and practices of the ruling party are increasing the feeling of insecurity among Muslims and other minorities, which is a cause of concern for the secular and democratic character of the country.
Dr. Farooq also expressed concern over the desecration of religious places and bulldozer operations against Muslim places of worship, saying that the sanctity of religious places should be maintained at all times. “The rule of law requires that constitutional guarantees, legal procedure and principles of justice should not be ignored in any action. Targeting a specific community through the use of force or unilateral actions is completely against justice and democratic values,” Dr. Farooq said and stressed that the supremacy of the constitution, protection of secular values, rule of law and equal treatment of all religions and communities are indispensable for the integrity, freedom, unity and development of the country.
He said that democracy can be strong only when the rights of every citizen are respected, differences of opinion are tolerated and no one faces fear, intimidation or injustice on the basis of religion or belief.
