Eagerly awaiting my visit to Sonamarg for the tunnel inauguration: PM Modi in his X post

The project would play a transformative role in boosting winter tourism in the region, says CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, January 12: Enthusiasm is brewing up for the inauguration of Z-Mohar tunnel in Sonamarg, Ganderbal district tomorrow at the hands of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister took to his X handle to express his enthusiasm to visit Sonamarg for the inauguration of the Z-Mohar tunnel on January 13. Responding to the post of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on X handle, PM Modi posted on the X, saying that he has been eagerly waiting for his visit to Sonmarg for the tunnel inauguration. “ I am eagerly awaiting my visit to Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir for the tunnel inauguration. You rightly point out the benefits for tourism and the local economy. Also, loved the aerial pictures and videos!”
Earlier the CM Omar Abdullah
expressed anticipation for the upcoming inauguration in a
post on X. Highlighting its significance, he emphasised that the project would play a transformative role in boosting winter tourism in the region. His X post reads: “Jammu and Kashmir, particularly central Kashmir, is eagerly awaiting the inauguration of this crucial infrastructure in the coming days. This development will undoubtedly be a game-changer for the growth of winter tourism in the valley.”
Remarkably, the Z-Morh Tunnel is considered a crucial precursor to the Zojila Tunnel, currently under construction. This tunnel is going to be Asia’s longest tunnel, spanning 13.14 kilometers, and being built at an estimated cost of Rs 6,800 crore. It will connect Ganderbal in Kashmir to Drass in Kargil.
It’s notable that the Zojila Tunnel will considerably cut travel time between Ganderbal and Kargil from three hours to just 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Z-Morh and Zojila Tunnels is going to provide uninterrupted access, fostering economic growth and social integration. The tunnel connectivity will drive development and prosperity. ( STC)
