JPC chairman submits report on Waqf (Amendment) Bill to LS speaker

New Delhi, January 30 (STC): The Joint Parliamentary Committee has formally submitted its report on the WAQF (Amendment) Bill to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, says a report.
The report was handed over today by the JPC chairperson Jagdambika Pal at Om Birla’s office in Parliament House.
It’s worth mentioning that JPC had adopted the report on Wednesday with a 15-11 majority vote after incorporating changes proposed by ruling BJP members.
Opposition members criticized the amendments, alleging that they infringe upon the constitutional rights of the Muslim community.

BJP members had in August last year, argued that the aims to modernize, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability in the management of Waqf properties.(STC)
