BJP proved strongest among strong; wins Delhi elections

Forming government in Delhi after more than 26 years.

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 08 (STC): The BJP has secured a majority in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats, according to the Election Commission.
AAP’s top leaders, including party chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Satyendar Jain, have lost the elections from New Delhi, Jangpura and Greater Kailash constituencies respectively.
The Bharatiya Janata Party will now form a government in Delhi after more than 26 years.
The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections began at 8 AM on Saturday, February 8. Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly with 699 candidates in the fray was held on February 5 from 7 am to 6 pm. A voter turnout of 60.54 per cent was registered for the February 5 polls. (STC)
