SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 28 (STC): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has sought support from the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, and other legislators for the three bills proposed by the PDP including the Jammu and Kashmir (Regularization & Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Public Land) Bill, 2025; the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Special Provisions for Regularization of Adhoc, Daily Wagers, Need-Based, and Other Temporary Workers) Act, 2025; and the Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition of Alcohol Bill, 2025.
“These bills seek to address urgent concerns affecting the daily lives of our people and uphold their aspirations,” she stated in a handout issued to media.
According to an official statement from PDP, she has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Sajad Lone, CPIM’s Mohd Yousuf Tarigami, AIP’s Sheikh Khursheed, and other independent MLAs, urging them to support the three crucial bills introduced by PDP legislators in the J&K Assembly.
In her letter, Mehbooba Mufti highlighted the continued hardships faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir since the developments of 2019.
She has stressed the need for collective action beyond party lines, a united effort, to address the grievances of the people.
Appealing for bipartisan support, Mufti urged the leaders to see these bills not as the initiative of one party but as essential steps toward addressing public grievances. She assured full PDP support for any government initiative that aligned with these core issues. “I look forward to your positive response and hope that we can move forward on these core issues together. Our political paths may differ, but the challenges faced by our people are shared, and so must be our resolve to address them,” Mufti added. (STC)
