Improved Toolkits Distribution Programme Held in Pulwama

SRINAGAR, APRIL 17 (STC): As part of the ongoing efforts to empower the local community and reduce unemployment, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, under the Improved Toolkits Distribution Programme (ITDPs), conducted a significant event in Pulwama aimed at promoting skill development in the handicrafts sector.
The programme, held under the National Handicrafts Projects Development – Skill Development in Handicrafts Sector (SDHS), saw the distribution of sewing machines among needy individuals, particularly women, to support their livelihood and enhance their self-reliance through skill-based employment.
The initiative was sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, and organized by M/S Gulshan Kani Shawl Makers Industrial Cooperative Limited. The event was attended by local artisans and community members, who expressed gratitude for the government’s continued support in uplifting traditional crafts and creating sustainable employment avenues.
This distribution not only aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the region but also ensures economic empowerment, especially for marginalized sections of society.(STC)
