SRINAGAR, MAY 25 (STC)
: Building sports infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir is vital to engage youth in positive activities and keep them away from the growing menace of drug addiction, said Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani.
He made these remarks today during a sports event organised by “Team Red” in Srinagar, aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle among the youth. He appreciated “Team Red’s” continuous efforts and said such initiatives are crucial for shaping a healthier and more focused younger generation.
“This is Team Red’s initiative. They have organised many events encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and get more involved in sports. We need to support this cause by developing more sports infrastructure,” he said.
He cited the example of the Gindun Sports Complex in Srinagar, which offers a wide range of facilities like football, squash, swimming, and tennis. “Such facilities should be developed in every constituency so that children not only play but also get trained professionally,” he added.
The CM’s Advisor also highlighted the existing talent pool in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the youth have shown exceptional performance in MMA, cricket, football, and even water sports. “Our youth are capable of competing at the international level and bringing laurels to J&K, provided they get proper support and training.”

Talking about commitments to develop sports grounds, he said that local MLAs, especially from Srinagar, are actively working to ensure sports facilities are set up across constituencies.
