SRINAGAR, JUNE 04 (STC)
: Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah has emphasized that majority population from Kargil to Leh wants to be reconnected with the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and seeks restoration of the pre-2019 status and rights. He pointed out that Kargil is often overlooked in public discourse.
“This is not just a local demand—it reflects the broader sentiment of the people who feel alienated after the revocation of Article 370,” he said.
He has also strongly criticized what he described as a continuing campaign by right-wing groups to create hostility against the people of Kashmir. He said such efforts are part of a larger “ecosystem” driven by forces like the RSS and BJP, which he accused of trying to portray Kashmiris as the enemy.
The MP said recent incidents of assault and harassment against Kashmiris in places like Dehradun, Delhi, and Chandigarh reflect an organized pattern aimed at isolating the community. “Being a Kashmiri, a real Kashmiri, is seen as a threat. This is not just about individuals our rights are also under attack,” he said.
He has also questioned the recent termination of government employees, demanding transparency around the reasons and legal grounds for such actions. “The government must explain who holds the power and who is behind these decisions,” he said.
He called on the central government to end the atmosphere of hostility, restore rights, and listen to the legitimate concerns of the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.(STC)
