JUNE 24 (STC):
U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday declared the “12 day war” between Israel and Iran was set to end in a ceasefire, holding the announcement out as validation for his strategic gamble of ordering a devastating U.S. airstrike over the weekend on three Iranian nuclear sites, reports cross section of media.
Earlier, Iran has launched missiles at U.S. bases in Qatar and Iraq in retaliation for Washington’s strikes on the country’s nuclear sites. Qatar hosts one of the largest U.S. bases in West Asia. Qatar condemned the attack on Al Udeid Air Base attack and said no one was injured. Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesperon Majed al-Ansari said the missiles were intercepted by Qatari air defences.
The attack came in response to the “blatant military aggression by the criminal regime of the United States” against the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic, the Iranian armed forces said in a statement.
Israel expanded its war against Iran by attacking Iranian government targets in Tehran on Monday (June 23, 2025) in a series of strikes that followed a salvo of missiles and drones fired by Iran at Israel as fighting between the two foes raged for the 11th day.
