Government identifies nine dealers involved in rotten meat, sweet scandal

List includes names from Srinagar, Anantnag; seizures cross 12,000 kg meat, 21 quintals cheese, 440 quintals rasgulla

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 26 (STC): The Jammu and Kashmir Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today released the list of nine dealers involved in the supply rotten meat, sweets and other food items across Srinagar and Anantnag. The crackdown on rotten meat, synthetic cheese, and expired sweets continues across Kashmir.
The official list issued by the FDA, shows the suspension of licenses of several prominent meat and food outlets, including establishments in Lasjan, Zakura, Qamarwari, and Anantnag’s KP Road, Achabal, and Kadipora.
The establishments suspended FSSAI licenses are: M/S Al-Taqwa Foods (Lasjan, Srinagar, Altaf Ahmad Chadinoo); M/S Aarif Enterprises (Bulbul Bagh, Tengpora, Srinagar); M/S Sunshine Foods (Industrial Estate, Zakura, Srinagar); M/S Anmol Foods (Parimpora Ghat, Qamarwari, Srinagar); M/S Jubilant Food Works Ltd. (Domino’s Pizza, KP Road, Anantnag); M/S Shaun Shahi Biryani (KP Road, Anantnag); M/S Shan Fish Fry (Achabal Adda, Anantnag); M/S Bismillah Sweets (Industrial Estate, Anantnag); and M/S Khanday Poultry (Kadipora, Anantnag).
The action follows large-scale seizures reported earlier this week. Notably, FDA teams had confiscated over 12,000 kg of meat, 21 quintals of synthetic cheese, and 440 quintals of expired rasgulla being pushed into markets ahead of the festival season.
The FDA in an earlier public notice, stated that the violators would face prosecution under the Food Safety Act, which prescribes penalties up to Rs 10 lakh, cancellation of licenses, and imprisonment of up to six years.
Officials further said that investigations are underway and more establishments could face similar action in the coming days.
