SRINAGAR, JUNE 16 (STC): Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said all necessary arrangements, including security measures, have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on July 3.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Dr Jitendra Singh expressed confidence that the pilgrimage would be conducted successfully, adding that the administration has made comprehensive preparations for the yatra, which will be held over an extended duration this year.
The minister was speaking on the sidelines of the 59th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre.
Highlighting welfare measures for pensioners, Singh said the Centre has introduced several reforms to improve ease of living for senior citizens, including digital pension services and face-authentication-based life certificates.
He also announced that Jammu & Kashmir Bank has been included among banks authorised to disburse pensions to Central Government retirees in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the move would benefit pensioners in the Union Territory, particularly after the transition of erstwhile state employees into the Central Government framework following the reorganisation of J&K.
