Batmaloo residents decry drinking water scarcity

STC NEWS DESK
SRINAGAR, JULY 01 (STC): Acute drinking water scarcity has hit many areas in Srinagar city, as the heatwave gripped the valley. Delegations from various localities have been thronging concerned offices for supply of drinking water in their areas. One such delegation from New Colony Batmaloo told reporters that they have been without a regular water supply for the last 24 days. “It feels as if we are living in a remote village rather than in the heart of the city. Despite repeated visits and requests to the concerned department, no permanent solution has been provided,” the delegation said.
The delegation further stated: “Water is a basic human right, not a privilege. We earnestly appeal to the concerned authorities to intervene immediately and restore the water supply on a war footing.
Please don’t let the people of New Colony, Batamaloo continue to suffer in silence.”
