Chinese President to attend 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10 (STC): Chinese state media confirmed that Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS summit to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. Notably, India currently holds the BRICS presidency and will host the summit.
The summit is expected to be attended by heads of BRICS member countries and other invited leaders. Xi Jinping’s visit is being described as very important in the context of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between India and China. BRICS cooperation is also expected to gain special importance during this visit in the backdrop of the ongoing global tensions, especially the conflict in West Asia and the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to the Chinese official news agency Xinhua, President Xi Jinping will visit India to attend the BRICS summit. This visit will be his first to India in nearly seven years. Xi Jinping last visited India in 2019, when he attended an informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed important issues related to bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.
Remarkably, the 18th BRICS summit is expected to discuss a number of important issues, including the global economic situation, multilateral cooperation, sustainable development, global governance and current international crises.
