Delhi court grants interim bail to MP Engineer Rashid to attend father’s funeral

SRINAGAR, MAY 18 (STC): Delhi High Court today granted interim bail to Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, on the grounds to attend the funeral rites of his father, Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who passed away after a brief illness in New Delhi.. The bail has been granted till June 2.
It’s pertinent to mention that the MP is an accused in an NIA case and under Judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
Earlier, Rashid had also received interim bail on April 28 to meet his ailing father. After staying with his family for a few days, he surrendered before jail authorities on May 6.
According to family members, the funeral prayers and burial of Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh will take place at their ancestral village in Langate area of north Kashmir.
