LG Manoj Sinha chairs high-level security meeting, reviews logistics, security and weather response arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

SRINAGAR, JULY 23 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security review meeting here today with senior officials of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Civil Administration, CAPFs and key security agencies. He directed the authorities to remain on high alert, intensify intelligence-led counter-terrorism operations and proactively eliminate emerging security threats.
The Lt Governor also reviewed the logistical and security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra in light of the recent inclement weather and heavy rains across the region. He directed all departments to maintain smooth coordination and ensure the safety, welfare and convenience of all the pilgrims of Baba Barfani. He directed a department-wise comprehensive review of all the facilities, including a rigorous audit of fire and emergency services, power grids and water supply infrastructure. The Lt Governor said that the resumption of the Yatra is strictly dependent on the weather conditions. In view of the recent heavy rains, the Lt Governor directed to strengthen flood prevention measures and immediately remove debris from all the drains along the pilgrim tracks. He stressed the need for continuous operational preparedness, focusing on round-the-clock disaster preparedness, ensuring clean routes and good sanitation facilities and adequate stocks of ration, LPG, kerosene and emergency medical supplies. The Lt Governor directed the officials to strictly stop unregistered service providers on the route and implement mandatory 100% prepaid service system.
He also directed for additional power DG sets, round the clock healthcare services, adequate availability of manpower, oxygen cylinders and ambulances. To ensure prompt response to possible incidents, the LG directed the officials to maintain active traffic management, conduct regular inspection of vehicles, ensure that all equipment is working, and issue timely weather alerts. He also directed that every tent should have a fire extinguisher and special wildlife units should be deployed along the tracks. He also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, Civil Administration, Security Forces, Shrine Board, service providers, volunteers, stakeholders and citizens for making the holy pilgrimage to Amarnath safe and successful.
Notably, the meeting was attended by Lt Gen Prateek Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Atul Dallo, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, DGP, Jammu and Kashmir, SJM Geelani, Special DG Coordination; Lt Gen Balbir Singh, GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen P K Mishra, GOC 16 Corps; Chandrakar Bharti, Principal Secretary, Home; Pankaj Thakur, Additional Director, Intelligence Bureau; Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and CEO; Avantesh Kumar, ADGP, CID; Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, IGPs, civil administration, police, army, security forces, intelligence agencies and senior officers of the Amarnath Shrine Board.
