LG Manoj Sinha highlights linguistic diversity of J&K reflecting confluence of India’s common culture

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30 (STC): Speaking about the
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the National Education Policy has given special emphasis on primary education in mother tongue and Indian languages, which gives children the opportunity to learn and progress with confidence. Sinha congratulated the students who performed outstandingly at a function organized jointly by “Wadis Hindi Shiksha Samiti” and “Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages”.
Congratulating the students, teachers, parents and administrators, the Lieutenant Governor said that the honoured students are not just winners of any competition but are the bearers of the glorious tradition of knowledge, literature and culture of India.
Highlighting the importance of mother tongue, the Lieutenant Governor said that it is not just a means of communication but a sense connected to identity, memory and soul. He stressed that the linguistic diversity of Jammu and Kashmir reflects the confluence of India’s shared culture. He said that the National Education Policy has given special emphasis on primary education in mother tongue and Indian languages, which gives children the opportunity to learn and move forward with confidence.
The LG also stressed that mother tongue is the foundation of modern India. He said that children should remain connected to their heritage and at the same time they should be provided opportunities to fly on the global stage.
He also said that the real development of Jammu and Kashmir will be possible only when every child of the border villages can confidently fulfill his dreams. He said, “The real development of Jammu and Kashmir will be possible only when any child of our border villages can confidently say that I can fulfill my dreams. I know that the children and youth of the border areas are full of courage and potential and they are a source of inspiration for the entire nation.”
Addressing the officials, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted five key points for empowering the youth in the border areas: education and technology, employment and entrepreneurship, sports and culture, access to opportunities, and mentorship. He stressed that talent achieves real success only when it paves the way for others.
“We need to ensure that smart classrooms, digital libraries and skill development opportunities reach remote villages. We must create opportunities for the youth in the sectors of handicrafts, horticulture, agriculture, tourism and local industries so that they are not just job seekers but also job creators. Our youth should have books, pens and sports equipment in their hands and express themselves in full, so that their energy can find a creative direction,” he said.
He said that J&K youth should not lag behind the youth living in any major city of the country. All scholarships, digital platforms, training programs and opportunities for competitions at the national and international levels should be available to the youth of the border areas as well. The Lieutenant Governor said that all officials should ensure that eminent experts from Jammu and Kashmir meet these children twice a year, or share their experiences through programs organized in Srinagar or Jammu, and guide and support them.
He urged the students to take pride in their language and culture while embracing science, technology and modern knowledge. He appreciated the efforts of ‘Vadi Hindi Shiksha Samiti’ and its officials for the promotion of Hindi language and wished all the talented students who were honoured at the ceremony a bright future.
“Every student has a special talent. They should convert this talent into responsibility. Be proud of their language, understand their culture and at the same time move forward to touch new heights in the field of science, technology, business and modern knowledge,” he said.
