NC-led government collapse imminent: BJP leader Sunil Sharma

STC NEWS DESK
SRINAGAR, JUNE 17 (STC) Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Wednesday said the National Conference-led government will “collapse on its own” due to internal contradictions and will not complete its term.
“The ruling coalition is unstable and lacks cohesion. It will fall because of its own weaknesses. The BJP will neither topple it nor form an alternative government,” the senior BJP leader told reporters here today.
The BJP leader termed Omar Abdullah’s recent statements “irresponsible” and advised him not to “talk like a child” but to act with the responsibility expected of his office.
Alleging that the recent NC legislators’ meeting at Dachigam was effectively a “floor test,” Sharma claimed it was driven by CM Omar’s “paranoia” about support within his party.
“The Abdullahs are power-hungry. They will compromise on full statehood as long as their protocol and privileges remain intact. Omar would settle for anything below UT status if there is no cut in protocol,” he said.
He also stated that political narratives in Kashmir are being manufactured to mislead the public.
On statehood, he reiterated that the BJP’s promise will be fulfilled only when the Centre is fully satisfied that violence and public disorder have become a thing of the past. “Restoration of statehood is linked to lasting peace and stability,” he said.
Sunil Sharma also accused the National Conference and Congress of shielding illegal land grabbers and communalising the encroachment issue.
“Our party, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, remains focused on ensuring peace, progress and transparency in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Sunil Sharma.
