SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 38 (STC): National Conference members may have differences of opinion on various issues, but it does not mean that there is a split or division in the party, said its senior leader and cabinet minister Sakina Itoo saying the party is like a family.

While talking to media persons on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar, Sakina Itoo said that the National Conference is united and the party leaders and legislators are continuing to work for the party regardless of the responsibilities entrusted to them.
According to her, getting a ministry is not the only way for a leader to serve the public or work for the party, but one can also serve the organization and the people through various responsibilities within the party.
She added that in a democratic system, party members have every right to express their opinions and grievances. However, it would not be right to necessarily term such expressions as a protest against the leadership or a rebellion within the party. Trying to end the controversy over the discontent of leaders who were deprived of inclusion in the cabinet, Sakina Itoo said that ministries are not the only way for party leaders to work. According to her, leaders can also serve the party and the people through various organizational and public responsibilities.
She emphasized that the expression of different opinions within the National Conference is part of the democratic process and should not be considered against the unity of the party.
