SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 05 (STC): The Jammu and Kashmir Police in a statement has said that the terrorist killed during the encounter in the forest area of Budgam has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani. Confirming the identity of the slain militant through a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Jammu and Kashmir Police wrote, “Yasir was killed during Operation Ashdar. This joint search operation was launched by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in the Ashdar Gali area based on specific intelligence.”
According to the army, during the operation, the security forces noticed suspicious movement, after which the suspected militants were challenged. Due to this, the militants opened fire on the security forces, which led to a heavy exchange of fire. One militant was killed in the encounter. Security forces have also recovered an AK-series rifle and other weapons from the scene.
According to officials, the operation in Ashdar Gali had been going on since Thursday and after the encounter, security forces had launched a massive search operation in the area to trace the presence of any possible militants. Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar visited the operation site and reviewed the security situation and the ongoing search operation.
