Prolific writer, columnist Dr Javed Iqbal passes away

: Dr Javed Iqbal, a noted physician, writer and former president of the Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council, passed away here today, reports quoting family sources said.
Dr Iqbal was known for his contributions to medicine, literature and journalism. Besides serving in Kashmir, he was associated with the medical profession in Iran for several years, where he earned recognition for his professional work.
Known as a prolific writer and columnist, he regularly contributed articles on political, social, literary and cultural issues to leading newspapers, including Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma. His writings were widely read for their analytical approach and understanding of contemporary affairs.
Dr Iqbal served as president of the Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council for three years.
During his tenure, the council organised several academic, literary and cultural programmes aimed at promoting the Urdu language and literature.
The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council expressed grief over his demise, describing it as a major loss to the literary and academic community.
Council president Advocate Abdul Rashid Hanjura, vice presidents Prof Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi and Dr Khaliq Anjum, general secretary Javed Mattoo and other members conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
