SECURITY REVIEW: IGP Kashmir VK Birdi orders heightened vigil, CASO in sensitive areas

: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi has ordered heightened vigil and intensified cordon and search operations in sensitive areas across the valley, report multiple news agencies quoting his review of security arrangements for the upcoming tourist season, traffic management, and Hajj preparedness.
Notably, the IGP chaired the security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, the Army’s 15 Corps, Traffic Police, and district SSPs.
During the meeting, IGP Birdi directed officers to strengthen area domination and intensify surveillance against anti-national elements. He stressed the need to secure vulnerable installations, including prominent tourist destinations, and enforce strict surveillance along inter-district boundaries to prevent suspicious movement.
Special directions were issued for effective traffic management in Srinagar city, with officials asked to implement a comprehensive plan to ease congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.
The IGP also reviewed Hajj preparedness and directed officers to ensure adequate security and facilitation for pilgrims at all designated points.
District heads were instructed to maintain strict vigilance over social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation.
