Union Minister Mandaviya inaugurates ESIC hospital in Budgam for workers and their families

SRINAGAR, APRIL 24 (STC)
: A 100-bed ESIC hospital constructed at a cost of around Rs 165 crore in Budgam was inaugurated today by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The hospital will provide comprehensive healthcare services to workers and their families.
The minister said the hospital will ensure free treatment for insured persons under the Employees’ State Insurance scheme.
“If contributions are regularly deposited, beneficiaries are entitled to treatment without any financial limit,” Mandaviya said, highlighting the scope of the scheme.
He said the hospital would also be developed into a nursing college in the coming days to train youth from Jammu and Kashmir, creating employment opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Mandaviya said the facility would remain operational to cater to the health needs of workers and their dependents in the region.
Officials said the ESIC hospital is expected to strengthen healthcare access for workers in the region, while also contributing to skill development through proposed training facilities.
Meanwhile, referring to the broader vision for youth engagement, the minister said the government is working to strengthen sports infrastructure and participation across the country through initiatives such as Fit India and Khelo India.
He said India is making efforts to host major international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games, adding that necessary procedures are underway in line with international requirements.
The minister expressed confidence that India would emerge as a leading sporting nation in the coming decades, with increased participation and improved governance in sports.
