SRINAGAR, APRIL 27 (STC)
: In a continued anti-drug menace campaign, the use of traditional ‘Tanga’ (horse-cart) to spread awareness against drugs among the youth has attracted attention of one and all.
The unique campaign, first of its kind, was organised by the civil administration in Sopore town of Baramulla district on Monday. The ‘Tanga’ rally drew significant public attention as it moved through the town, blending nostalgia with a critical social message.
“The objective is to disseminate the message about the ill-effects of drugs to as many people as possible, especially the youth,” Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, told reporters.
The district administration has scheduled daily outreach programmes. “We have a programme in every panchayat to spread awareness about how harmful drugs are for society. Our aim is that young people should understand — I want to save my health, my community, and my future,” Raina added.
Tehsildar Sopore, Sheikh Tariq, asserted that the fight against drug peddlers will continue until the menace is completely eradicated, urging public cooperation.
