Weather Alert: Spells of rain and thunderstorms to hit many areas in J&K in next 72 hours

SRINAGAR, JUNE 03 (STC):
Many areas in Jammu & Kashmir will witness spells of rain and thunderstorms across many areas following an active western disturbance here today, said weather man and added that intense showers, gusty winds, hailstorms, and lightning are possible at some places.
Peak impact is expected on 4th and 5th June, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, when widespread rain/thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hailstorms, and intense lightning may occur, the weather man said.
Most weather activity is expected during the afternoon, evening, and night hours. No prolonged or day-long rainfall is anticipated.
The farmers have been advised to suspend field activities for the next 3 days. Besides, people have been asked to avoid staying outdoors during thunderstorms, especially near trees and electric poles.
Boating and other activities on Dal Lake, Wular Lake, and other water bodies should be avoided during strong winds and adverse weather, reads the advisory.
