Kashmir Harvard Staffer Becomes First J&K Cyclist to Complete Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) Cycling Expedition

The cyclist, Rafiq Ahmad, thanked Chairman of Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Tariq Baktoo, for encouraging and supporting him throughout the journey.

: Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute’s (KHEI) Physical Education Teacher, Rafiq Ahmad, a well known cyclist from Jammu and Kashmir, has achieved a rare feat by becoming the first cyclist from the region to successfully complete the Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) Cycling Expedition. He covered an astounding 4,249 kilometres in the expedition themed “A Ride for Unity” and expressed his desire to pedal all the way to the holy city of Makkah.
There were 150 cyclists from across India who participated in the expedition. Rafiq Ahmad was the only cyclist representing Jammu and Kashmir. He pedalled across challenging terrains, diverse landscapes, and extreme weather conditions for 16 days reflecting his exceptional physical and mental strength.
Rafiq Ahmad in a statement has especially thanked Chairman of Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Tariq Baktoo, for encouraging and supporting him throughout the journey. “His guidance has been a major source of strength,” he said.
He also thanked cycling community for unwavering support in his cycling expedition.
It’s pertinent to mention that the expedition, themed “A Ride for Unity”, was flagged off on November 1, 2025, from TRC Srinagar and concluded on November 16.
The event was organised by Dare2Gear Adventure in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Fit India Movement.
The nationwide expedition also commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, promoting unity, fitness, and national integration.
