J&K government announces complete ban on pressure horns

SRINAGAR, APRIL 06 (STC): Jammu & Kashmir government has imposed a complete ban on the use of pressure horns across the Union Territory. The ban follows Supreme Court directions in SLP No. 25237/2010 (dated 10.12.2013).
The Traffic Police Headquarters in a statement has said that using pressure horns is an offence under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and violators may face a fine of up to ₹10,000 along with imprisonment of up to six months.
The ban includes all high-noise devices such as air pressure horns, musical horns, reverse horns, hooters, and trumpets.
Authorities have directed vehicle owners to remove such devices immediately as per Rule 119 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989.
They have urged citizens to cooperate in reducing noise pollution.
