PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti tenders apology for Jantar Mantar remarks, calls it ‘slip of tongue’

SRINAGAR, JULY 28 (STC): In a bid to put public backlash at rest, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti expressed regret for her remarks at Jantar Mantar during Cockroach Janta Party(CJP) protests. She clarified that she had intended to say “Bahana Banta Hain” but instead slipped and uttered only “Banta Hain.”
Mehbooba Mufti was addressing a press conference here today. She expressed regret over the comments made at the Jantar Mantar protest and said, “I gave bytes to a lot of people there. In one byte I said there is militancy and intended to say ‘Bahana Banta Hain,’ but I could not utter the word ‘Bahana’ due to hurriedness. I thought I had said that.”
The former Chief Minister further said that the video in circulation is authentic. “I wouldn’t say that video is fake; it is genuine,” she said.
