Security forces arrest UP citizens for posing ‘fake CRPF personnel’ on Amarnath Yatra route

SRINAGAR, JULY 28 (STC): A citizen from Uttar Pradesh allegedly posing as a fake Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official was arrested by the security forces on the Amarnath Yatra route. Reports quoting officials said the operation was carried out at Domel on the Pir Baltal route. “The arrested citizen has been identified as Harvinder Kumar, who is said to be a resident of Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The security forces stopped him in a suspicious manner near Domel Gate and during a search, a fake CRPF identity card was recovered from his possession, the reports said. As per sources the said citizen was also wearing a CRPF uniform and was posing as a paramilitary officer. He was detained after security personnel became suspicious of his movements and documents.
According to the authorities, after initial investigation, Harvinder Kumar has been handed over to the Baltal police post for further questioning and legal action. The police are investigating where he obtained the fake identity card and uniform and for what purpose he was on the sensitive route of the Amarnath Yatra.
According to security sources, tight security arrangements have been made on all the important routes of the Yatra, including Baltal and Pahalgam. The movement of pilgrims, security personnel and other persons is being closely monitored so that any suspicious activity can be stopped in time.
