Attempts to disrupt law & order in J&K won’t be allowed; making efforts to resolve the problems of Kashmiri Pandits: LG Manoj Sinha

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 16 (STC): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has assured that despite attempts to disrupt law and order in Jammu and Kashmir, there is no need for the people to panic or get worried.
Sinha, who was addressing the annual day function of Kashmiri Pandit Volunteers in Jammu, said that there are many challenges facing Jammu and Kashmir and these include some issues that are being continuously addressed. However, he said that the situation has changed significantly compared to the past and today a large number of people in Jammu and Kashmir are ready to hoist the national flag and tricolour.
He said that at one time the biggest challenge was the perception that no one in Jammu and Kashmir would be ready to hoist the national flag, but today the situation is completely different. He further stated that the enthusiasm shown by the people to hoist the tricolour is a strong example of this change.
When asked about the recent terrorist incidents and attempts to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu and Kashmir, the LG admitted that such attempts are being made, however, he appealed to the people not to panic. He said that once again attempts are being made to disrupt the atmosphere, but people need not worry. Attention is being paid to relevant and necessary issues and the administration and security forces are fully mobilized to deal with the efforts of such elements.
Sinha said that the attempts to disrupt peace have not started from today but such attempts have been going on for some time. He also advised the public not to pay attention to rumors and said that some people deliberately try to create fear among the people by spreading rumors.
“The administration and security forces are fully committed to maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir. Any person or element who tries to disrupt the current peaceful environment will not be allowed to succeed in their ambitions, the LG said.
On this occasion, Kashmiri Pandit leader and founder of KPV Vikram Kaul also placed several demands before the government. He took a stand against re-granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, citing the current security situation and the challenges facing the Union Territory. He demanded that the government and the Lieutenant Governor increase the monthly relief of Kashmiri Pandits and ensure long-term security for Kashmiri Pandit employees posted in the valley, especially in the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks.
On the demand for increase in relief for Kashmiri Pandits, the Lieutenant Governor said that the government is making continuous efforts to resolve these issues. He said that some issues can be resolved immediately, while some issues require time to be resolved, however, the government is trying to resolve every issue on priority basis which can be resolved as soon as possible.
