LG Sinha advises to stay away from drugs, adopt discipline, fitness and brotherhood

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01 (STC): Urging the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace discipline, fitness and brotherhood and stay away from drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the race under the banner of “ Kashmir Marathon Run for Unity” was for the new generation of the region who dream of a better India, and for the youth who are working day and night to make Jammu and Kashmir self-reliant and developed.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was speaking at the closing ceremony of the “Kashmir Marathon Run for Unity”. He appreciated the enthusiasm and energy of the youth who participated in the event, congratulated all the runners and praised the Jammu and Kashmir Police for organizing the marathon, which has now become a symbol of peace, unity and development in this administrative centre.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that the ‘Run for Unity’ is not just about speed or endurance, but it is a manifestation of the power of collective determination and belief. He said that when people walk together, no destination is impossible and highlighted the importance of determination and unity to overcome challenges.
“The Run for Unity race is not just the speed of our steps. It is the speed of our determination and the speed of the belief that tells us that when people walk together, no destination is impossible,” he said.
Describing India’s diversity as its greatest identity, Manoj Sinha said that despite differences in language, tradition, food and dress, India’s heartbeat is one. He emphasized that unity is India’s strength, and when millions of steps move in the same direction, even the highest mountains can be crossed.
He said, “Through the Kashmir Marathon – ‘Run for Unity’, the youth have given the message that no goal is too far for a united India. All the runners have made it clear that their participation was an investment in a shared future; their run was not only for themselves but also for the new generation of Jammu and Kashmir who dream of a better India, and for the youth who are working day and night to make Jammu and Kashmir a self-reliant and developed UT.”
He urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace discipline, fitness and brotherhood and stay away from drugs. He mentioned the 100-day success of the ‘Nashmukt Jammu and Kashmir Campaign’ (Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign), which empowered thousands of youth through foot marches (Pad Yatra) and public awareness programmes. He appealed to the youth to become brand ambassadors of the ‘Fit India Movement’ and contribute to nation building.
