Mirwaiz Umar Farooq supports return of Kashmiri Pandits, wants them also to minimize differences

New Delhi/Srinagar, January 31 (STC): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq pitching the issue of Kashmiri Pandits as a humanitarian one, has called for their return to Kashmir. The Kashmiri Muslims want their return, he said in conversation with a local news agency, Kashmir News Service. He emphasized that their return should not be linked to the Kashmir issue or politics. But Pandits also have to minimize the differences,
“They will return to their homes and live peacefully with their Muslim brethren and again live in the same environment of love,” he stated.
In an exclusive conversation with the news agency, Mirwaiz divulged that he appealed many times from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid for the return of Kashmiri Pandits and stressed that their return has to be a collective effort.
“The majority community will play its role in welcoming them, but they also have to minimize the differences,” Mirwaiz Kashmir added.
As stated by the news agency he discolsed to have met Kashmiri Pandit delegations and shared suggestions on how to move forward.
“I had a long meeting with Kashmiri Pandits where we discussed ways to facilitate their return and restore trust,” he said.
As per the news agency. Mirwaiz reiterated that the Kashmiri Muslim community remains committed to welcoming Kashmiri Pandits back to their homes so they can live together in peace and harmony, just as they once did. (STC)
