Drinking water supply to face disruption in Srinagar from Feb 22-23

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 19 (STC): The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in a public notice has announced a 30-hour water supply disruption in major parts of Srinagar and adjoining areas on February 22 and 23. The disruption is due to the repair work of the Sindh Power Canal HEP Old Ganderbal and the desilting of its forebay.
The shutdown is being carried out by the Department of Civil Investigation & Design Wing, JKPDC, Kashmir and will affect raw water supplies to key Water Treatment Plants, including Nishat, Alusteng, and Rangil, reads the notification.
As per the notification, the water supply will remain severely affected in the following areas:
Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Shuhama, Hadoora, Chatterhama, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbagh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouhpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohri Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Rainawari, Khanyar, Khayam, Nowpora, Dalgate, Konkhan, Gagribal, Nehru Park, Dal areas, Brein, Gupkar, Sonwar, Indra Nagar, Shivpora, Batwara, Pandrethan, Lal Chowk, Court Road, Residency Road, M.A Road, Bishembar Nagar, Babademb, Fateh Kadal, Barbarshah, Habba Kadal, Gow Kadal, Shaheed Gunj, Karan Nagar, Kakasarai, Balgarden, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Bemina, Firdous Abad, parts of Batmaloo, Qamarwari, Zainakoot, Noorabad, Umerabad, and other adjacent areas.
Authorities as per the news people, especially the hey ouseholds have been advised to store adequate water in advance to meet their needs during the shutdown.
Hospitals and healthcare facilities in Srinagar have also been advised to remain in close coordination with the PHE Department to ensure uninterrupted water supply for critical operations.
