SRINAGAR, APRIL 14 (STC): Former Jammu and Kaahmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah today termed the Waqf Amendment Act as “against the Constitution”. At the same time, he welcomed the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker for not allowing a discussion on the matter, citing its pendency before the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, “This Bill is against the Constitution. The Speaker made a good decision of not allowing discussion on this as the matter is in the Supreme Court. We can talk about this after the Supreme Court’s decision.”
Taking a dig at the opposition, Dr Farooq said, “The Opposition here is only meant to do opposition; it is not a healthy criticism.” (STC)
