SRINAGAR, APRIL 16 (STC): Reacting to media reports about a National Conference (NC) MLA leaving the party, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, in a statement today dismissed the report as baseless.
Speaking to a local news agency, KNS, the Advisor to CM said, “There is no truth to the talk of any MLA quitting. Such rumors are completely baseless and aimed at creating confusion among the people.”
He has urged media organizations to act responsibly and verify news before publication. “The journalists who broke this news must have verified the facts. Reporting without confirmation only misleads the public,” he said.
He highlighted the ongoing case in the Supreme Court concerning the Waqf Bill, saying the party has full faith in the judicial system. “The Supreme Court is going to present the case today. We have sent our entire team, including MLA Muzaffar Iqbal, other MLAs, and a strong legal team.
We will fight our case there, and we hope that the biggest court in the country will give us justice,” Wani stated.
Calling the Waqf Bill “against our rights,” Wani stressed that the party would continue to oppose the bill and seek amendments to protect the community’s interests.
Regarding the political situation, Wani dismissed talks of any MLA switch and clarified that two seats had fallen vacant, and by-elections were expected. (STC)
