SRINAGAR, APRIL 25 (STC)
: Group of Concerned Citizens, J&K ( GCC) has expressed deep concern over the safety and security of Kashmiri students and Kashmiris working and living outside Kashmir in rest of the country.
The Group has conveyed its concern to the J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah through a written communication.
The GCC while conveying the concern has strongly condemned the reprehensible act of terrorism by the terrorists on 22nd April at Baisarjan Pahalgam, in which 27 tourists and one local were killed and injuring over a dozen others.
“This ghastly and dastardly attack on tourists in Kashmir was in many ways first of its kind in terms of brutality and also constituted an attack on the peace loving and hospitable people of Kashmir who are totally against terrorism and violence of this kind perpetrated on innocent and unsuspecting tourists who come to Kashmir to enjoy it’s famed natural beauty and weather at this time of the year.,” reads the communication sent to the LG Sinha snd the CM Omar.
Conveying that ordinary Kashmiri is as upset , outraged and devastated as any other citizen of this country, and possibly more as the tragic incident took place in Kashmir, the Group has pointed out that in the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attach, a new worry is enveloping Kashmir – the safety and security of students, and other residents from Jammu & Kashmir working and living outside Kashmir at various places in the country.
“We shall be grateful if you kindly take up the matter with the concerned State/ UT governments and the Central government so that timely and necessary steps are taken by the security and law and order agencies in the concerned States / UTs for the protection of Kashmiris studying, working and living in their respective jurisdictions. We seek your immediate attention and consideration,” says the GCC Chairman Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, IAS (Rtd) in the letter. (STC)
