Indian Army displays high-altitude combat readiness at Drass

SRINAGAR, JULY 27 (STC): Indian Army on Monday demonstrated its operational preparedness and cutting-edge military capabilities through a live combat exercise and static display at Matayen in the Drass sector of Ladakh.
The event highlighted the Army’s evolving battlefield strategies, including the small-team operational concept and the use of advanced drones and remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS) for surveillance and combat missions in high-altitude terrain.
According to the Fire and Fury Corps, the demonstration was organised for media representatives to showcase the Army’s combat readiness, technological advancements and operational capabilities in one of the world’s most challenging battle environments.
The exhibition featured a range of modern mobility and reconnaissance platforms, including Special Mobility Vehicles (SMVs), Rough Terrain Vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicles (Chetak), High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicles and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles. Advanced surveillance equipment, drones and indigenous military technologies were also displayed.
Army personnel briefed visitors on the capabilities of the equipment and explained how modern technologies are being integrated into military operations to enhance surveillance, mobility and combat effectiveness in mountainous regions.
Officials said the demonstration reflected the Indian Army’s continued focus on operational excellence, technological innovation and self-reliance, while honouring the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War under Operation Vijay.
