Iranian envoy summoned after firing incident in Strait of Hormuz

STC NEWS MONITORING DESK
SRINAGAR, APRIL 18 (STC): India today summoned Iranian envoy Mohammad Fathali after two Indian vessels were forced to turn back in the Strait of Hormuz following reported firing by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, sources said.
A strong protest was lodged over the incident, though there was no official confirmation from the External Affairs Ministry.
The episode came amid uncertainty over the key shipping route, with Iran briefly reopening it for commercial traffic on Friday before announcing its closure again on Saturday, alleging a violation of understandings by the US.
