“Jammu and Kashmir is, was and will remain an integral part of India.”

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 20 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and any third party’s interference in the Kashmir issue shows the “failure” of the central government, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra said when asked about the recent visit of US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore to Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the Congress does not accept any third party’s interference in the Kashmir issue and its policy on this issue has always been clear.
He said that if the US Ambassador, US Secretary of State or any diplomat of the world says today that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, then there is nothing new in it. According to him, “Jammu and Kashmir has always been an integral part of India and the whole world is aware of this fact.”
When Karra was asked whether the US ambassador tried to strike a balance by refraining from calling Jammu and Kashmir an “internal” or “integral” part, he said that the “confusion” arising in this regard is the result of the current government’s “failed policy”. He alleged that US interference in India’s affairs has increased in the past few years and according to him, this happens when the country’s policy fails.
Referring to ‘Operation Sindoor’, he said that even during this period, the scope of the US government’s interference was quite wide. He said that whatever ambiguity is arising in the country or in the minds of the people regarding Kashmir today, it is due to the alleged failed policy of the current government.
“If there is any intervention or any offer is made today, it is the result of the failed policy of the current government,” he said. On a question regarding Pakistan summoning the US ambassador, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress President said that this is an internal matter of Pakistan. He clarified that according to the policy of the Congress, Jammu and Kashmir is, was and will remain an integral part of India. Karra said that when it comes to matters between India and Pakistan, after the Simla Agreement, the only relevant parties are India and Pakistan. According to him, “Congress does not accept any third party intervention, because this has been our clear policy from the beginning.” He further said that there should be no scope for any third country or party to intervene or mediate in the Kashmir issue.
