SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 02 (STC): Former Chief Minister and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday accused the Centre of failing to fulfill its commitment on restoration of statehood.
Addressing the party’s protest in Srinagar, Dr. Farooq said, “J&K is facing tough times. The Centre promised us statehood, but it has neither been restored nor have the business rules been sent to us.”
He also alleged that there were people within Jammu and Kashmir who had supported the abrogation of Article 370, describing them as “agents” and saying they would ultimately be answerable for their actions.
“They will have to answer to the Almighty one day,” he said.
Commenting on today’s protest, the NC Chief said the protest was intended to convey that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would no longer remain silent over issues concerning their political and constitutional rights.
“Today, we showed them that we will no longer remain silent. We will never bow our heads,” he said.
It’s worth mentioning that the National Conference held a protest in Srinagar seeking restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees for Jammu and Kashmir.
