World Tourism Day: CM reiterates Government’s commitment for sustainable development of J&K’s tourism sector

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27 (STC): On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has invited tourists from across the country and the world to visit Jammu and Kashmir and enjoy the timeless beauty, diverse tourist destinations and unparalleled hospitality of the region. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that from snow-capped mountain peaks, serene lakes and lush valleys to other places rich in natural beauty, Jammu and Kashmir offers tourists an unparalleled world of experiences. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has vast potential for adventure sports, leisure stays, religious and pilgrimage tourism, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, destination weddings, unexplored trekking routes and film making.
“The government is committed to further strengthening the tourism infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for the sustainable development of this sector. Special attention is being paid to the promotion of responsible and sustainable eco-tourism, while the local population and youth are being given a central position in the tourism and hospitality sector of Jammu and Kashmir,” the CM said.
He also stressed the importance of preserving the rich cultural traditions and natural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and said that while expanding tourism opportunities in the region, its natural and cultural assets should be protected.
