CONTROVERSIAL BOOKS ISSUE: J&K Police’s Counter Intelligence team conduct raids in Jammu and Noida

: The Counter Intelligence Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police has conducted raids at several places simultaneously in Jammu and Noida. The operation is part of the ongoing investigation into the process of purchase, approval and distribution of these two books.
The agency raided the headquarters of Samagra Shiksha in Chani Himmat area of ​​Jammu, where the director and other concerned officers were questioned. Meanwhile, another Counter Intelligence team also searched the office of a publisher in Noida. According to officials, 123 copies of the first book were distributed in Jammu, Ramban and Udhampur districts, while 128 copies of the second book were distributed in Jammu and Baramulla districts.
Notably, the Counter Intelligence Wing had registered an FIR in this case last week, in which various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita have been included, while in addition, Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) has also been included in the case. Officials said that after the FIR was registered, a search was also conducted at the office of a publisher located in Bahu Plaza, Jammu on Saturday. Several important documents and digital evidence have been seized during the investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile, the School Education Department has issued orders to immediately withdraw the two controversial books from government schools. These books are alleged to have portrayed some separatist figures in an inappropriate manner, to which various political parties, including the BJP and the Congress, have raised strong objections.
