Empowering women key to prosperous Jammu and Kashmir: LG Sinha

Felicitates 32 beneficiaries of Kashmir Women’s Organization Fellowship.

SRINAGAR, JULY 06 (STC): Empowering women is the key to a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. Their development ensures the development of the society, said Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
“I envision a Jammu and Kashmir where women lead in education, industry, social organizations and governance, shaping policies, running businesses and enriching our culture through art and literature,” the LG said after felicitating 32 talented beneficiaries of Kashmir Women’s Organization Fellowship during a function held at Lok Bhawan Srinagar.
In his address on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor termed the women who received the fellowship as a symbol of the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir which is moving towards a future based on self-confidence, equal opportunities and a dignified life.
He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Fida Firdous and all the members of Kashmir Women’s Organization and said that the organization has provided such a strong platform where the Nari Shakti of the region is moving forward with confidence with their skills, ideas and identity and is playing an effective role in building a bright future for Jammu and Kashmir.
He said, “In a short span of time, Kashmir Women’s Organization has become a powerful center of hope, confidence and positive change. This fellowship program is a practical example of collective cooperation and shared responsibility.”
He said that these women have become a part of the society. By challenging outdated thinking and stereotypes, it has proven that new paths to success are always open. Their services will be a source of inspiration, confidence and guidance for the coming generations.
The LG paid tribute to the historical figures of Jammu and Kashmir, Rani Dadda, Kota Rani, Lal Deed, Hibba Khatun and Mata Rupa Bhavani, saying that these great women played a significant role in the cultural and social development of Jammu and Kashmir and set the highest examples of Nari Shakti.
He said, “We have many such great examples before us and I wish that the women of Jammu and Kashmir lead the development of the region.” The Lieutenant Governor thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he had given the women of Jammu and Kashmir their legitimate rights and ended the discrimination against them. He presented the vision of a developed Jammu and Kashmir based on women’s leadership and said, “Empowerment of women is the foundation of a developed Jammu and Kashmir. The development of women ensures the development of the society,” he added, “I envision a Jammu and Kashmir where women play a leading role in education, industry, social organizations and governance. “I want to see a Jammu and Kashmir where every girl child grows up with the belief that her dreams are valuable, her voice is powerful and her future possibilities are limitless,” Sinha said.
He hoped that the Kashmir Women’s Organisation’s fellowship programme would promote the fundamental principle that women have the right to equal and dignified participation in the social, cultural, economic and political spheres. “We must remain committed to giving due respect to our female power and providing a conducive environment for the development of their potential,” he said.
“When women progress, society progresses, when women lead, the nation reaches new heights, and when women fulfil their dreams, the entire world becomes more just, compassionate and prosperous,” he said.
Manoj Sinha also expressed concern over the growing problem of drug abuse among women and directed the women receiving the fellowship to address the root causes of this problem. Conduct a comprehensive study so that the rehabilitation system can be made more effective and better help can be provided to women and girls suffering from drug addiction. He also appreciated the services of the guides who provided guidance during the fellowship program and hoped that these efforts of the Kashmir Women’s Organization will lead to positive changes in the lives of countless women in the coming years.
Notably, the ceremony was attended by Dr. Fida Firdous, President Kashmir Writers Association, Dr. Darakhshan Hassan Butt, President Kashmir Women’s Organization, members of Kashmir Writers Association and Kashmir Women’s Organization, as well as senior government officials.
