SRINAGAR, JUNE 08 (STC): India has reiterated its warning to its nationals in Iran to avoid any travel to the country and exit the region by available means of transport, reports a cross section of media today.
In its advisory posted in the X platform, the Indian Embassy in Iran states: “In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran.”
The statement further reads “Indian Nationals presently in Iran are also advised to exit the country by available means of transport.”
It’s pertinent mention that Israel launched airstrikes targeting central and western Iran today in response to missile fire from Tehran.
According to official data, around 9,000 Indians, including students, were in Iran when the conflict began following strikes on Iranian targets by Israel and the US on February 28.
Nearly 1,800 Indians have returned to India so far, says a report.
Meanwhile, global oil prices jumped sharply after Israel conducted strikes on targets in Iran, raising fears of a broader regional conflict and potential disruptions to energy supplies from the Middle East.
According to a report, Brent crude surged by more than 5%, while U.S. crude also recorded significant gains as markets reacted to the escalating tensions.
