Kashmir’s day’s temperature exceeds 34 degrees; rains likely on July 11 and 12, says Meteorological Department

SRINAGAR, JULY 11 (STC): Even as the day temperature in the Kashmir valley once again touched 34 degrees, there is a possibility of change in weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir from July 11 and 12, during which there will be rains., said the Meteorological Department here today.
In its advisory, the Meteorological Department said that flooding, landslides, shooting rocks and mudslides may occur in some areas. The department said intense heat was recorded once again on Friday and the day temperature was recorded at 34.5 degrees. In Jammu it was also 34.5 degrees Celsius. The intensity of heat continued in the Kashmir Valley, at many places the temperature was recorded up to 4 degrees above normal. According to the data, the maximum temperature in Qazigund was 32.0 degrees Celsius, which was 4.1 degrees above normal, while the temperature in the tourist destination of Pahalgam was 28.0 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the maximum temperature in Kupwara was recorded at 33.0 degrees Celsius, which was 2.2 degrees above normal, while the mercury in Kokernag reached 31.0 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Leh, the headquarters of the Union Territory of Ladakh, was recorded at 23.4 degrees Celsius. Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed, Director of the Meteorological Center in Srinagar, said that a change in weather is expected from July 11 and 12, with moderate to heavy rain at some places and light to moderate rain in the Kashmir Valley. He said that flooding, landslides, shooting stones and mudslides are possible in some areas. may fall, especially during the late night, early morning or evening hours. The day is expected to be mostly cloudy with occasional clear intervals, but the risk of weather-related disruptions remains high outside daylight hours. He added that the rain may provide temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave in the valley.
